Ash Wednesday is on February 14th. The church will be open from 4:45pm to 6:45pm for anyone who would like to receive ashes. All you need to do is show up on Wednesday with an open heart.
The ashes symbolize our own mortality and are offered with the words ‘Dust to dust, ash to ash. From the dusts your were formed, to the dust of the earth you shall return.’
The ashes for ash Wednesday are made from palm branches that have been saved from Palm Sunday last year, another reminder of the mortality of all things.
Pastor Casey will also be offering ashes at the South Corinth United Methodist Church at 10 Chapman St from 6:45am to 8:45am on Wednesday morning.
