Our Sunday School program will now be called Youth Fellowship and normally runs September through June. The name change is a reflection on how we wish to focus on the importance of “fellowship” with one another as well as learning about our faith. Due to the pandemic, we have revised our plans and will begin our year outside and stay outside for as long as the weather allows. Afterwards, if CDC health guidelines permit, we will move indoors to our parsonage and continue Sunday School there. We will revisit how to continue Youth Fellowship once the fall has made it too cold for us to be outside. All children will be required to wear their masks until such time as they are vaccinated and it is deemed safe to remove them by CDC and local guidelines. All of our teachers are vaccinated but will also continue to wear masks when around the children for everyone’s protection.
Our Youth Fellowship teachers endeavor to share their love and passion for Jesus Christ to all the children in our community. In accordance with both the Upper New York Conference and our own Safe Sanctuaries policies, the adults working with children have completed a background check and keep two adults with the children at all times unless a child is with a family member or it is an emergency that does not allow for there to be more than one adult present. For more information on our Safe Sanctuaries policy, please visit our Safe Sanctuaries page here on our website.
For the 2021-2022 “school” year, the children will have their lessons between 9:15am and 10:15am starting September 19th, after which they are invited to join us for regular worship at 10:30am. Per the Safe Sanctuaries policy, every child must be registered for Sunday School. This process helps us learn about the child, especially if they have any underlying health conditions or food allergies that the teachers should know about. It also gives us emergency contact information should a child’s parent not be able to be reached immediately.
In years past, the children used to help with worship the first Sunday of every month by participating in “jobs” such as lighting the altar candles, reading the day’s scripture, and collecting the offertory. The pandemic has put this on-hold for the foreseeable future to keep everyone as safe as possible. We pray that they’ll soon be back with us fully.
If you would like to register your child or children for our Youth Fellowship, or have any questions, please contact our Sunday School Superintendent through our email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
