Our Sunday School program will now be called Youth Fellowship and normally runs September through the end of May. The name change is a reflection on how we wish to focus on the importance of “fellowship” with one another as well as learning about our faith. We’ve updated our Covid-19 protocols to reflect the standard we all live by now. Students and teachers alike are both going unmasked around one another but if someone feels better masked, that is perfectly fine. It is a choice.
Our Youth Fellowship teachers endeavor to share their love and passion for Jesus Christ to all the children in our community. In accordance with both the Upper New York Conference and our own Safe Sanctuaries policies, the adults working with children have completed a background check and keep two adults with the children at all times unless a child is with a family member, or it is an emergency that does not allow for there to be more than one adult present. For more information on our Safe Sanctuaries policy, please visit our Safe Sanctuaries page here on our website.
For the 2022-2023 “school” year, the children will have their lessons between 3:15pm and 4:30pm on Wednesdays starting in September. They will be asked to come to church for regular worship one Sunday a month. Per the Safe Sanctuaries policy, every child must be registered for Sunday School. This process helps us learn about the child, especially if they have any underlying health conditions or food allergies that the teachers should know about. It also gives us emergency contact information should a child’s parent not be able to be reached immediately.
In years past, the children used to help with worship the first Sunday of every month by participating in “jobs” such as lighting the altar candles, reading the day’s scripture, and collecting the offertory. The pandemic has put this on-hold for the foreseeable future to keep everyone as safe as possible. We pray that they’ll soon be back at it shortly.
