Here at Lake Luzerne UMC, we love helping, whether it is for missions and ministries near or for those farther away. Locally, we’re involved with the Maxfield Community Food Pantry, both as part of the board, and as volunteers. This is an Ecumenical endeavor we share with our siblings in Christ in the community as well as with other local volunteers. Every summer, we partner with St. Mary’s Episcopal for our “Snacks for the Children” ministry by helping those in summer school get a free snack during the month of July.
Our Youth Fellowship children also participate in ministry work. Once a year they collect money for the Society of St. Andrew, which helps feed those in need. The society collects food after farmers harvest their crops that stores can’t use at a discounted price. Our kids are always excited to discover just how much their loose pocket change can add up to when they put it all together. During Christmas time, they’ve been known to “sell” Memory Bulbs and then decide amongst themselves, which charities, locally or nationally, to donate to. During the 2024-25 school year, they began new mission work for the Linus Project of the Red Cross. The project collects blankets for children affected by house fires. Our Youth Fellowship students are busy making beautiful quilts that are sure to bring comfort to a child in need. We are so proud of them.
